Rules and Regulations
Please read the rules listed below for the Next Generation Women's Hockey League (NGWHA) and respect them.
We specfically want to highlight the rule on alcohol use.
Alcohol use in the arena is strickly prohibited and there is ZERO TOLERANCE. This is a City of Ottawa rule. Contracts can be revoked and ice time lost, resulting in no league.
NGWHA RULES
1) ALCOHOL USE is prohbited. Absolutley no alcohol is to be brought into the arena or dressing roomS.
2) ICING – use the blue line.
3) GOALIES REMAIN IN THE SAME END AS TEAM’S BENCH - to keep the flow of the game going and to make changes easier, goalies will stay in their end (unless sharing one goalie).
4) PENALTIES – is a penalty shot from the blue line and the player that took the penalty can remain on the ice (t.hey do not have to go off)
5) TWO (2) PERIODS and switch at the 10:30pm mark unless there is a scoring opportunity at the time.
6) NO SLAP SHOTS – defined as a player’s back swing going passed the knee. A player doing so will cause a whistle by the referee and a face-off in the offending player’s zone.
7) LINE CHANGES – can take place at any time.
8) STATISTICS - goals and assists will be recorded and posted.
Please keep in mind this is a fun and social league, overall the teams seem fairly balanced with beginners and intermediate players. Please show good sportsmanship and be respectful to other players. Bad mouthing, foul language etc. will not be tolerated.
